Following his graduation from Law School at the University of Florida, where he was selected to serve as Executive Notes Editor of the University of Florida Law Review. Ted served in the United States Army (honorable discharge, captain).  Thereafter, he attended New York University and received his masters in law with a concentration in taxation.  He is a certified public accountant and was a supervisor with the Atlanta tax department of Ernst & Whinney (now known as Ernst & Young), a big three international accounting firm.  Ted joined the regional Atlanta law firm of Hansell & Post in 1983, where he became a partner in the firm's tax department.  In the late 1980s, Ted left Hansell & Post to form his own firm, which today is known as Roberts & Erck.

Ted is a former instructor of law at the University of Florida School of Law, a former adjunct tax professor in the graduate tax program at Emory University School of Law, and a frequent speaker at seminars on a variety of legal topics and has published several articles on income tax matters.   He has served his church, community and profession on numerous committees and various organizations, often taking a leadership role.  He served as a member of the State Bar committee that drafted the Limited Liability Company Act of Georgia and the Limited Liability Partnership Act of Georgia, both of which have been enacted into law by the Georgia General Assembly.
